Agenesis of the corpus calosum

Is anyone else dealing with this birth defect? I have total absence of the corpus calosum.

How does this affect your overall daily health?

It causes me to have trouble controlling my emotions, I can't drive, memorizing has always been hard. I am not sure if it is why I am dyslexic.

I wish I knew someone else with this so I could compare and learn more.

How do you know you have absence of your corpus callosum? Because I have a hard time with the things you mentioned too. And I don't know what is wrong with me. I can drive a car, but I often get lost in areas I should be familiar with and I'm not in tact with my emotions. I don't ever know how I'm feeling.

After a car accident they did a CT scan and then a bunch of MRIs when they saw a growth behind my eye. They all show an empty space where the corpus calosum should be. These days they can often diagnose it before birth from the fetal ultrasounds.

My daughter has ACC. She was diagnosed before birth with an ultrasound. Then MRI after birth. She has emotional problems, OCD, social delay, learning disabilities, and very much wants to be just like everyone else. She appears like any other teenager, is very bright and smart, but very much behind in her scholastic level. Did you have trouble in school? If so, what helped you.

I had trouble with anything requiring memorization, especially spelling and learning a second language. Because I did well in math I was told I was being lazy and resorted to cheating on written Spanish tests. Orally I did better because I thought " this object is ... " Instead of Spanish word for x is ...
Doodling when I took notes did help me remember thing and studying in front of the tv. I would think , ok I was studying that when Jonny Carson did Headines and then oh yay it is so and so. I did 100 times better with open book open note tests. I wish I had known about ACC as a kid. I am just starting to regulate my emotions.
